Biography

From the very beginning, The People have been focused and determined working non-stop to create a name for themselves. Relentlessly striving to avoid the branding of labels, The People don't allow any one description to define them solely. Using the melodic sensibility of the singer/songwriter, the dense compositional style of the classical realm, and the improvisational quality of a jazz combo, The People create a unique listening experience.

Formed in 2004, Oliver Thompson (guitar/vocals), Joe Augugliaro (bass/vocals) and Sean Vinci (drums/vocals) have already conjured a devout following, and with the aid of CD's, t-shirts, stickers, and most importantly their high energy live performances, they have achieved a great deal in a short amount of time. With the release of a brand new album "Make a Sound", The People are on a roll and show no signs of slowing down.

History
2002-2006

In the winter of 2002, Oliver Thompson met Sean Vinci. Discovering that Sean had aspirations of building a home studio and that Oliver needed a studio to record in, created what would become a perfect match. Finally after almost two years of work, they had an album. A band was needed.

It was clear that Sean would be the drummer, and Oliver the guitarist. But who would fill in the cracks? First Oliver enlisted the backbone of his first band, Mr. Benjamin Buller to play the bass. While in search of a keyboardist Oliver received a voicemail that would make history. It was from Russell Gillespie, and it was simple: “I’ve listened to your CD four times, when are we gonna start a rock band?” In a Rock and Roll setting Russ considered himself primarily a guitar player, but through the doors of Oakland University’s practice rooms Oliver had heard Russ wail on the piano. They talked, they agreed. Half keyboard, half guitar, primary vocalist. Easy. Moving on…

Rehearsals began and three shows were played before Ben had to leave his duties as bass player to pursue a career in mud wrestling. Their was only one likely replacement... Long time friend and class mate Joseph Augugliaro.

With Joe at the core, The People were four determined, hard-working, focused, and altogether wholesome individuals aspiring to make great music.
